POSTCARD FROM THE PLAINS

BEHIND THE BRUSHSTROKES
My mini-mural, “Postcard from the Plains” was truly a creative and evolutionary process for me. I knew when I began the project that I wanted to incorporate the impactful contrast between an enormous, bright turquoise blue Nebraska sky, a ripe golden wheat field, and a towering white cumulonimbus cloud, which is generally present in a summer Nebraska landscape. This concept was what I presented at our mini-mural meeting with my quick 30 second sketch and brief discussion. This is symbolic to me of a typical mid-summer afternoon in Southwestern Nebraska and a common scene to our farming community, which I love with all my heart.
